04.08.202614:00:00UTC+00U.S. Core Durable Goods Growth Slows to 0.7% in June, Half of May’s Pace

Growth in U.S. durable goods orders excluding transportation eased in June 2026, signaling a moderation in underlying investment momentum. The core durables measure rose 0.7% month-over-month, down from a revised 1.4% increase in May 2026.

The June figure, updated on 4 August 2026, reflects a comparison with May’s levels, while May’s 1.4% gain was measured against April. Although growth in core durable goods has cooled, the continued expansion suggests that demand for longer-lasting business equipment and consumer goods remains positive, even as the pace of month-to-month improvement has slowed.

Market participants often view durable goods excluding transportation as a cleaner gauge of underlying economic and investment trends, given the volatility of large aircraft and vehicle orders. The June slowdown may prompt closer scrutiny of upcoming data to determine whether this is the start of a broader deceleration or a temporary easing after May’s strong advance.
